It’s one of the busiest times of the year for the fashion industry. With London Fashion Week drawing to a close, the juggernaut of designers, stylists, buyers and press is now preparing to make its way to Milan for the Italian spring collections. Becasue of coronavirus many shows got cancelled.
But this year a shadow has fallen over what is traditionally a celebration of the industry’s finest creative talent, as the COVID-19 coronavirus means that the majority of Chinese participants have, for the first time, been obliged to stay away.
With the number of reported cases in Europe rising, several countries and airlines are maintaining travel restrictions between China and the rest of the world. Many Chinese citizens are choosing to self-quarantine themselves by simply staying at home. At London Fashion Week the effect was profound.
“It is absolutely hitting the fashion industry,” British Fashion Council chair Stephanie Phair told CGTN.

With many people now stuck at home unable to go out, sales of designer goods on the internet are expected to spike over this difficult time.
Coronavirus has impacted Fashion indutry
As per the report, top fashion editors and department store buyers who attended the Paris and Milan fashion weeks are still in self-imposed quarantine after returning to their home countries.
A 27-year-old coronavirus-stricken Vietnamese heiress attended fashion week shows in Milan and Paris before she was diagnosed. Nga Nguyen, went to the Gucci show in Milan on February 19 and the Saint Laurent show in Paris February 25, the South China Morning Post reported.
Nga visited Europe with her sister Nguyen Hong Nhung, 26, who also tested positive for coronavirus.
As per the report, top fashion editors and department store buyers who attended the Paris and Milan fashion weeks are still in self-imposed quarantine after returning to their home countries.
Meanwhile, Editors from the US and from Asian countries — Singapore and Thailand — have confirmed that their companies have asked them not to return to their offices after visiting Milan.
How this has affected India!
In India too, the coronavirus outbreak has taken a toll on several big-ticket corporate, sport and entertainment events and fashion world. The FDCI lotus make up India fashion week one of the country biggest fashion galas which has to be held in capital Delhi from 11-15 march and had participants from across the country has been put on hold in light of health safety hazard posed by coronavirus and it one of the fashion events affected across the world.
According to HT CITY, Sunil Sethi chairman of FDCI says while all regulatory permissions and NOCs from Delhi police traffic police safety were taken, it was a tough call especially when so much money and preparation is involved, more than 80 designers had stalls and 30-40 designers were going to showcase around 200 buyers had already signed in but we had so many cancellations from international market. Fortunately, the media and domestic buyers supported us, he says and adds that above all the main concern was everyone’s safety.
Across the world fashion weeks including one in Tokyo and labels such as Prada, Versace and Gucci have cancelled their shows.
Actor Deepika Padukone who was invited by Louis Vuitton for the recently conclude Paris Fashion Week had also declined invite.
Designer Gaurav Jai Gupta said” Ofcourse the business will be impacted but the virus is not going to stay forever”.
Tips to prevent Coronavirus!

3. Maintain a distance from people coughing or sneeg or sneezing.
4. Try not to shake hands with anyone even if they have symptons or not.
